Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Choose a Plan at Self.inc

Step 2: Sign Up Online

Step 3: Make Your First 3 Payments
Pay your monthly amount for 3 consecutive months. Self reports each payment to all 3 bureaus. After 3 on-time payments, you unlock the Self Visa credit card.
Step 4: Activate Your Self Visa Card
Once eligible, Self will notify you in the app. Activate the Visa card ($25 annual fee). Your credit card limit is backed by the money already saved in your Self account.
Step 5: Use Both Products
Now you have:
- Credit Builder Loan (installment account) — reports monthly payments
- Self Visa Card (revolving account) — reports card usage

How Self Works
Your monthly payments go into a certificate of deposit (CD) held by a partner bank. At the end of your plan, Self returns the saved amount minus interest and fees. You essentially save money while building credit.
